Prestwick wins Scottish High Street of the Year
Prestwick Main Street has been awarded the accolade of Scottish Champion High Street at this year’s Great British High Street Awards.
The awards are designed to showcase all the hard work which goes on in towns to make our high streets vibrant and bustling, as well as to highlight the value they bring to our local communities.
Whilst many of our high streets are struggling with the loss of chain stores and the move to online shopping, Prestwick main street offers a good mix of independently run shops, cafes, bars and restaurants; and the lovely community garden provides a great outdoor space to sit and take a breather.
As well as the title, the accolade brings £5,000 for the local community.
My congratulations to Prestwick Business Association, who nominated the town, and to all the retailers and residents who continually work hard to make Main Street the vibrant street it is.
