Support for Medical Research Charities
I have written to the Chancellor to ask the UK Government to provide support for the many medical research charities across the UK whose funding and research capacity are being significantly impacted due to COVID-19.
Despite supporting vulnerable patient communities through the crisis, the majority of medical research charities are unlikely to benefit from the support package for announced charities as they do not provide commissioned frontline services.
Many research charities receive no funding from Government and rely solely on supporters to fund their vital research and campaigning work and are, therefore, facing a substantial drop in income over this period.
