I was delighted to contribute to this series of essays for the Balfour Project – a charity that works for peace, justice and equal rights in Israel/Palestine, through education and advocacy – on the eve of their 2021 Conference.

My essay on the Right to Health in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is based on my own personal experience of having worked in Gaza in the early 1990s and again in recent years having set up a project to improve breast cancer services in conjunction with Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP).

Please note this was written before the recent violence which has made the situation with regards healthcare services so much worse, with the loss of both vital medical facilities and personnel.
